The 2009 AHOABC Christmas Party was held on Saturday,Dec 5, 2009. Fortunately the weather was good with no snow, rain or other unpleasant meteorlogical surprises. As in the past, it was held at a members home, in this case the house of Brian and Carole Drab. It was probably the best turn out in several years with 39 members, spouses and guests attending. Virtually everyone brought some kind of food item, ensuring a plentiful selection of both appetizers and main course items. Following a lengthy social hour, dinner was served and the only difficulty was finding a place to sit and enjoy  it.

The election of 2010 Club Officers then took place (this is our Annual General meeting afterall) and John Elliott was returned by acclamation for a second one year term. Bill Waters offered to take on the position of Vice President to replace our previous Vice President Uwe Boecker, who sadly passed away from cancer earlier in the year. Treasurer Lawrence Robertson and Secretary Brian Drab were also returned by acclamation to their second one year terms. The Nells Cup was awarded to Brian Drab for 2009 with a point total of 128 points, followed by Michael DeWilde with 101 points and Andy Jones with 59 points. The fact that Brian Drab took over totaling points when Uwe took sick and that he also won was entirely coincidental! Our regalia guy Adrian Percival assured everyone that the club jackets would be here by Christmas and that it was the manufacturers fault, not his, that they were not here earlier.

Next came the "Secret Santa" where everyone brought a gift and put it under the christmas tree. Names were drawn randomly and the selected person got his/her choice of either picking a wrapped gift from under the tree or "stealing" someone else' gift who had already unwrapped theirs. Gifts could only be stolen once, then they were in permanent possession of the owner. This lead to a new, I'm sure, record. Ivan Lessner had his various gifts stolen 5 times, probably due to the fact that he had been incredibly lucky in his choice of gifts! Adrian was fortunate in that his gift turned out to be a base ball cap with a mini spotlight in the viser. he was very helpfully illuminating other members gifts as they opened them. Sadly,  Adrian lost his gift towards the end of the evening when it was stolen from him. There was no consoling him and the age of darkness descended on us!

Everyone appearred to have had a very good time and I am sure no one went away hungry. It is interesting to note that the time between Christmas Parties seems to be growing shorter and shorter.
