In May, 1990, the A-HOABC operated a Sunday Swap Meet as part of the Van Dusen All-British Field Meet, with proceeds going to the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation. Dan and Sue Doucette arranged the production of a full colour cast metal grille badge of the Club logo. Collector Vehicle Licence Plates became a reality in B.C. in 1990, with huge insurance savings for many Members' cars.
Rick Regan began his trip to Conclave at Blackhawk Farms in Rockford, Illinois, in his BN1, but mechanical problems in Kamloops turned him back to Vancouver for "Plan B", a trip to the airport. The year contained the usual calendar of events, including the Vancouver All-British Field Meet, Vintage Racing at Westwood and the Annual Club Barbecue, and the Waterfront Park display at Lonsdale Quay. And we welcomed the debut of Indy CART Racing to the streets of downtown Vancouver on the Labour Day Weekend. Don Manning, Earl Kagna, and Jim and Karen Morrison drove their Healeys to the Northwest Healey Meet in the high country of Sisters, Oregon. Sadly, there is no record of a B.C. car attending the West Coast Meet in Santa Maria, California.
New President Jim Morrison began 1991 with an appeal to members to get more out of their Club by becoming more involved and by attending more events. And so it was that a fine group of volunteers pitched to make the Swap Meet component of the All-British Field Meet a success, raising over $2,000 for St. Paul's Hospital.
The West Coast Meet was held early, in June, in scenic South Lake Tahoe, attended by Mike Long, Jimordave Howes, Dan and Sue Doucette, and Jim and Karen Morrison (with "Lucas Dynamo", in a BJ9). Brian (Bic) and Mary Healey and Gerry and Marian Coker were guests of honour. Earl Kagna drove his golden beige Mk III to Aspen, Colorado, and beyond, scouting routes to Breckenridge for the International Meet in '92.
The A-HOABC was responsible for holding the Northwest Meet in 1991, and the search for a location finally paid off with the discovery of the Beacon Beach Resort in Kelowna. Karen Morrison spent most of the summer planning the details and taking registrations. The meet was a terrific success, with over 40 Healeys in attendance from B.C. Washington, Oregon, and Alberta. Great weather, great tours, great friends, great fun!
Dan and Sue Doucette's North Shore Rally, which had been rained out on two previous ocassions, finally came together in late September, winding up with lunch at Shannon Falls on Highway 99. The Annual Christmas Party was held at the North Shore YMCA in West Vancouver; Jim Morrison was re-elected as President for a second term.
